life goes on

it's such a treat to have some down time. studying for the exam took up every waking hour for several weeks. suddenly i have a life!

but still no computer at home, so the blog time is minimal. this is my coffee break at work, just now.

so, now that i have some idea why this cyber-neighborhood is such a thriving community, i'm wondering what your 'space' is like. from 'why do we blog?' to 'where, and how do we blog?'

when i'm at work, i'm at a very big, quite pretentious desk, as i work for a big oil company - the first person everyone sees as they come in the door - and presentation is everything!

but at home i'm usually in my jammies and slippers or comfy jeans, a t-shirt and big wooly socks, as i sit at my own desk with a cup of herbal tea. i'm surrounded by pictures of my kids and friends, piles of books and sheet music often as not heaped on most every horizontal surface. there is a tall, thin window flanking each side of the desk and the room is flooded with natural light. everything in sight is 'vintage' and comfortably worn.

where do you blog?

In the kitchen when at home! Cooking smells behind, outside the canarian landscape reaching to the sea. My cat used to sit on windowsill outside in immediate view. Alas no more - until another cat possibly.

My blogging is done in my small study that the wife and I call "the cave" (no windows) and it is usually a wreck. Usually the first thing we do if someone comes over is to shut the door to "the cave". :) ec

All the grannies have arrived in force. We joke about it. grannyfiddler was just plain granny at first and we were showing up one after another on a mutual friend's blog. Too funny. She changed her user name. I think granny p has always been granny p.

My computer sits in our bed/sitting room with the t.v., stereo, and record player on one side and my bookcase with printer and scanner on the other. It is guarded by 3 rubber lizards and covered with stickers, courtesy of the girls.

The room is full of books, videos, cd's and even an old vinyl collection.

I have an "Until There's a Cure Day" poster (S. F. Giants Aids Benefit) displayed prominently on the wall. We attended the first one in 1995 at Candlestick Park and plan to go as part of a larger group next July.

That's about it except for three kids, one husband, and miscellaneous cats running in and out.

It's comfortable and central.

I posted photos of the area on granny some time ago which became the source of a running joke on the blog.

If you even notice some of us referring to vacuum cleaner bags, that's it.

I'll go back and try to find the date for you if you're interested.

Or maybe take another picture.

When I blog at work I'm alone in my office. My desk is scattered with misc work stuff. When I blog at home I'm always in pajamas as I live for my pajama time!

I finally found you again. Somehow I had thought it was Tina from the Czech Republic who had asked about computers.

Anyhow, I took another picture of the computer. It's a few posts back on granny but easy enough to find if you're interested.

In a coffee shop or on a laptop I check out from the campus commons. I don't have a computer of my own so... wherever I can find one... *smile* And since it is public, I never wear pjs!

Hi Grannyfiddler, I've seen you at Madcapmum's and at Claire's at now at my own spot... Thank you! I've been to yours before and commented on that lovely lady winter poem, but never sure that you would see it...

How and why I blog, I don't really have the answer for except I'd like to capture a few snapshots in time to see how things are progressing... Following whimsy, I've learn lots in the process and have met interesting, like-minded folks...

Where & when I blog... Usually in the wee hours of the morning when everything is still and dark and chilly in our living room at home, and I am in the jammies with a cup o' hot tea. No one out, but the newspaper delivery. But then, I have no discipline and so later in the day I might turn on things to see what the rest of you may be up to, fully dressed!
